Our vision and values
Our vision is to transform the health of local people. We want our district to be at least as good as the rest of England, and we want to greatly reduce the health inequalities there are within our community.
For example, did you know that health is worse in the Wakefield district than the national average? That life expectancy is one year less for local men and women? And depending on where you live in Wakefield you could die four years earlier than someone living in another part of the district.
We want to understand why this is and what we can do to make sure that every local person knows about, and has access to, health advice and services. We have set out how we plan to tackle the issues behind these figures in our 'delivering healthier communities'
document.
The values that shape us
Along with our vision we have a set of values that describe the principles and standards our staff should be working to. These are to be an organisation that is:
- caring;
- learning;
- ambitious; and
- responsive.
How we live our values
We always try to live up to our values and do our best to make them part and parcel of our everyday work. The pages in this section show where we've asked a few members of staff to share their thoughts about the PCT's values and how they put them into practice at work.
